Hi
from 'Oz,
I
was in the Band at BRNC back in the late 1950 - 1960 period. My name
is William (Bill) Matthews my service# was RMB/X3242 and I was a Trombonist.
My first tour as a single Muso was in 1956, then I had a pier head jump
arranged by my folks because they thought I should be seperated from
the girl I was in love with, so I found myself posted to the 3rd Commando
band in Malta for 3 years. When I came back to Dartmouth I was married
to that Girl (Sylvia who was tailoress at the college in 1961-2) and
we spent 3 very happy years at BRNC. Some of the members of the band
at that time were - Ken Keast, Taff Horrel, Tony Marsh, Pony More. While
there I helped with the production of "The Moon Maidens" and
also ran a group called the " Flamenco Five + One," (the +One
was my wife Sylvia.)
I have some photo's of that period I could send to you if you want them.
Both of us have fond memories of Dartmouth, as our 1st son was born
there. I hope you can pass this on to some of the older Ex RMB's who
may still live in the area. On my Facebook page you will find a Photo
of me with my 'Bone taken in Dartmouth when I was 21, just before my
wedding. Hope you all have a great time at the reunion.
Yours Bill Matthews.
