The 2009 WCR took place at the China Fleet Club in Saltash Cornwall on April the 18th. Eighty two tickets were sold and four people were unable to attend. Many this year were first time visitors. Everyone seemed to have an excellent evening at the new venue at least no complaints were received. People were saying the accommodation was very good and the buffet excellent. The toast to absent friends proposed by Mick Hutton who was making his first visit to the west country re-union meeting up with old shipmates from HMS. Gambia after forty years.

Twelve raffle prizes were available, one a bottle of whisky which was purchased with money sent by ex Bugle Major John Satchwell in Australia who was unable to attend but wished to be part of the evening. The winner was Dave Pratley thank you John for your generosity. The golfers were out on the course on Saturday. Next year Gary Pumford will be trying to arrange a mini golf tournament for which I will arrange a winners trophy. Anyone interested in playing please contact Gary early so he can book greens etc. If you are thinking of attending next year may I advise you to book accommodation at the Fleet club now. Booking costs nothing and you can always cancel if you change your mind. Many have booked already.

Next year the West Country Re-union will be held on APRIL the 17th 2010. Put it on the calendar now. Of course I will remind you.
