Gents, It seems a long time since I finished boys time and whilst in CG Squad went on a visit for a few days to the RM Commando Camp down on Dartmoor. We at the time were, for that time, fit but it looks as though it was a holiday to what they put our recruits through now. I transferred from HMS Ganges where I was a boy seaman and that was the same type of routine as the recruits are getting now. When I arrived at Burford I thought it was a Holiday Camp after Ganges. The picture came from the Portsmouth News with an interesting explanation of what was going on. A "Mud Lark"?? Cheers. |
