Kevin Rowan

It is with regret that I inform you that Ex-RM Musician Kevin Rowan RMBX3104, passed away after a long illness on the 26th March 2011.

I was present at his funeral which was well attended by friends and Family, and a detachment of RAOB Brethren who performed a dignified ritual around the coffin prior to the closure.

I spoke to his wife at the wake which was held in the catholic Club in Halifax.

Kevin and I joined up on the same day, and for the 3 and a half years in “B” company we lived in the same barrack room together.

We became close friends and I often went to his home in Halifax, where I met his sister Lorna and we became very close, and I was on the verge of asking her to marry me, but sadly that didn’t happen.

After 1960 Kevin and I, went our separate ways, me to Singapore and Kevin to Arbroath. I was not to see Kevin again until 2009 after a lot of searching.

His passing will be a great loss to all those who knew him.
