I have just returned from a nostalgic 5 days in Sandwich and locality. My wife and I stayed with June Turton who's husband was Ex Bandmaster Keith Turton who tragically died some 20 years ago.

We went to visit Deal and obviously the School of Music.

As you all know Thursday 22nd Sept was the anniversary of the bombings so it was memorable to us that we were in the area, I was at the time of the bombing a Detective Sergeant working in the Office of 'INTERPOL' in Scotland Yard and was receiving information of the atrocity that happened in Deal.

I forward some photos which may be of interest to Ex Bandies.

The photos are self explanatory its just sad to think what it used look like beforehand. In the bandstand photo you can see that a display of flowers has been laid for each of the bandsmen that died. The church has now had a change of use to 6 flats!
