Continuing Train Trip Onwards from Albertinia and to Mossel Bay, Bartholemew Diaz's first stop on the African continent. At Mossel Bay exists The Post Office Tree, (Post between ships was left there) We had a night stop at the next station-Hartenbos and then to George. Dropping down to the sea we headed for Knysna passing over Kaaiman's River Bridge stopping for a photo shoot. Knysna was the next night, a resort in it's own right. We made the trip by boat to Knysna Heads where we went as close to the Tidal Race as it was possible. In the Lagoon, oysters are farmed Our return trip involved going inland via the Montague Pass to Ostrich Country at Oudtshoorn passing the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe en route. Most passengers though had forgotten that it was necessary to close the carriage windows as the train went through the seven tunnels! Among the forty-one passengers were a couple from Wales, a Canadian couple, Swiss and Zimbarbians. The girl from Canada must have felt that she was at a local stampede and mastered riding an Ostrich. We continued back to Cape Town having had a really brilliant break. I understand that currently the line is being overhauled; there are other train trips in South Africa (Rovos Rail).
